VINTAGE 1920'S REX PARLOR GUITAR
BY OSCAR SCHMIDT

Somebody took very good care of this 1920's era Rex
parlor guitar by Oscar Schmidt over the last 90+ years-
its in great condition

There's a mellow, time worn patina to the tonewoods
and a bluesy sound to match.

This is a high end affair with
back and sides of
Honduran mahogany,
Spruce top, Gabon ebony
bridge and Brazilian rosewood fretboard.
Bound
and bordered top, back, and soundhole.

Reverse gear brass tuners hold the guitar in tune nicely.
Frets and fingerboard show moderate signs of playwear.
Back of neck is in good condition-no capo wear and nice
finish. The neck profile is a very comfortable soft "v".

The neck heel is firmly attached to the body. The neck is
straight and the neck angle pretty good. I enjoy playing it,
as is, with action of 3/16" at the 12th fret.

There are an array of cracks on the back; none of which
you can really see but you can feel them. The bridge has
experienced some thermoelastic creep over the years and
looks like it was reset at some point-please see photos.

All the appointments are original-bone saddle, ebony
endpin, nut and bridge, brass tuners- and in great condition.
The bridge pins also look like they are original and in good
shape.

The strings on the guitar are nylon. There is no case.
