1946 Gibson ES-150

When you hold this vintage Gibson in your hands it's hard not to focus on the history of such a classic instrument. One quick trip up and down the fingerboard and you realize this is no mere museum piece. Even after 60+ years and countless trends in music, it is just as playable as the day it rolled out of the factory. Plenty of players with agree that there is no pickup more versatile and expressive than a vintage Gibson P-90 and that is certainly true here. It sounds wonderful with this full hollow body. There's no doubt that by the mid 40's Gibson had this guitar building thing down pat. This baby is as solid and sound feeling as they come. All maple body with a big and fat one piece mahogany neck topped with a rosewood fingerboard. There are other nice details too like the tapered headstock and Gibson "script" logo. You can't do much better than a sunburst finish on one of these. Classic.

Cosmetic Condition:

We are pleased to report that this guitar has been well cared for and remains in very good condition. There are nicks and scratches throughout along with some weather checking, but certainly less than you'd expect to find. The sunburst looks great, there are no binding issues either. The only tell tale sign of its use is the "buckle rash" on the back. As is pretty common, the celluloid pickguard reacted with the finish so there's a spot by the neck joint.

Repairs & Mods:

No cracks, no breaks. The end pin/strap button has been replaced with large wooden ball.

Feel & Playability:

This one has a big ole neck that feels great in your hand. Good action, straight neck set at a good angle, no dead spots either. The original frets are in good shape too. This guitar is a find!
