1959 Magnatone Mark VII

Most collectors are probably familiar with the earlier Paul Bigsby designed Magnatone guitars but they continued to produce some super cool guitars well into the 60's. The Mark VII comes from the mind of Paul Barth who was fresh off designing guitars for Rickenbacker in the 50s. It's easy to spot the similarities with the sharp dual cutaway design and the shallow angle of the tilt back headstock. This one may look like a solid body at first glance but it is actually semi-hollow, making it superbly resonant and surprisingly rich sounding. The pickup is based in design from Paul Bigsby's original design, minus the adjustable pole pieces. The sound it nice and clear and sounds amazing through a cranked small combo amp. It also has a killer rosewood fingerboard and nice vintage sunburst finish.

Cosmetic Condition:

It certainly has no shortage of natural play wear! There are nicks and scratches throughout along with weather checking and dings.

Repairs & Mods:

Despite the cosmetic condition the guitar is structurally in good shape! On the butt end of the guitar you can see where the wood is joined in this semi-hollow constructed guitar. It looks worse than it is as the body is not separating or coming apart. All is original.

Feel & Playability:

The neck has a great feeling medium to medium/thick neck profile to it. The frets are original and do show some wear to them but the guitar plays well with medium height action (which is ideal as you can really lay in hard on the strings with the pickup being so clear). Overall it's a super fun guitar that might just be the secret ingredient you've been missing.
