Vintage 1967 Fender Coronado II w/OHSC!

Superb Condition! Excellent Player!

Here's a gorgeous Fender Coronado II from 1967 (neck is stamped 10/67, pots are 1967) that is in fantastic condition. It appears to completely original with the (probable) exception of the "F"-plate on the back. According to the serial number it is a 1973 plate, but everything else on the guitar is original, including the bridge cover! This '67 Cory even comes in it's original locking Victorial Luggage Co. hardshell case complete with case key! It is a bit of a mystery to me how an instrument that is in such incredibly good original condition complete with two accessories, neither of which ever survive unseparated from the guitar, has a changed F-plate, but it is what it is.

The original cherry sunburst finish is still bold and vibrant, it has not faded one bit. There is some checking (finish cracks) on the front and back, and there are a few small nicks and scratches to be found, but besides the touch-up beneath the selector switch only several tiny chips along the back edge are noticeable. The sides are also checked and have some small dings and chips, nothing really catches your eye. A little wear along the top edge of the headstock and a small nick on the top beveled edge of the pickguard are about the only other cosmetic items to mention! All the bindings, body, neck and f-holes, are tight and crack-free and have mellowed to an ivory color. You gotta love the checkerboard front! I think this model was Fender's first real attempt at body bindings and they brought in some folks from CF Martin (of Nazareth, PA) to show them the right way to do it. The control knobs work correctly and smoothly but the selector switch moves more up and down than side to side, an easy fix but I left it alone. Both pickups sound great, this guitar is very versatile and a blast to play. Being a hollowbody it is loud unplugged, too. The frets are in great shape and show a little flattening and slight grooving at the first few but need no attention. There is a little wear on the back of the neck up near the top but otherwise it is almost blemish-free. All chrome-plated hardware is bright and shiny and the bridge and saddles adjust easily. This '67 Fender Coronado II comes in the original locking hardshell case made by the Victoria Luggage Co. and includes the case key. The case is in great condition inside and out. This Fender Coronado is the one to own: checkerboard binding, dual pickups, bridge cover(!), and original case (w/key!!). This is about as good as it gets.
