Vintage 1978 Fender Silverfaced Super Reverb Combo Guitar Amp

Serviced. Good to go!

1978 Fender Silverface Super Reverb 70 watt 4x12 combo amplifier

This fantastic vintage Fender amplifier was just professionally serviced by Mike Whitney of Whitney Amplification. It sounds AMAZING. All maintenance operations are listed below:

Oil noted on pre-amp tube pins and on tube socket. Tube pins and sockets cleaned. All sockets have sufficient pin tightness. All pots exhibited noise. Pots were cleaned, and static noise was corrected. Tremolo (Vibrato) weak (tubes replaced, works perfectly now). Installed new matched 6L6GC power tubes. Completely recapped amplifier.

Super Reverb history:

  • Silverface models: Power output was increased to 70 watts in 1975 and was given a Master volume with pull-out boost circuit and a solid state rectifier. Changed to 135 watts RMS in late 1978 with an additional Mid control pot for the Normal channel and a Line Out jack socket.) Silverface amps made between '68 and '72 were emblazoned with "Super Reverb-Amp". After 1972 this was changed to just "Super Reverb". This Amp model uses a reliable solid state rectifier.

Tube (valve) complement:

  • 4 X 12AX7
  • 2 X 12AT7
  • 2 X 6L6
  • Two channels: Normal and Vibrato, with Bright Switch
  • Height: 24?" (63.2 cm)
  • Width: 25?" (63.8 cm)
  • Depth: 10?" (26.7 cm)
  • Weight: approx. 65 lbs.
  • A "Boost" control and a master volume were added in 1975.
  • Mid control for the Normal channel and Line Out jack socket were added in 1978.
  • Master volume has a pull-out pot for distortion.

Original footswitch included with amplifier (works perfectly).
