Vtg (1950) Harmony Silvertone H605 Acoustic Parlor Jazz Blues Guitar Near Mint!

  • Price:$76.00

This is a Silvertone H605 acoustic guitar made in Chicago by Harmony in 1950 and it is in near mint condition.  There are a few very light scratches and small dings but otherwise, it is pristine.  This was one of the last models produced with the volute that was common in the 1930s and 1940s.  The action is manageable but somewhat high.  There is room on the floating bridge for some correction.  The height of strings above the 4th fret is 1/16th of an inch and the height of strings above the 12th fret is 3/16th of an inch.  There is a slight dip in the soundboard between the sound hole and the fretboard.  The original tuners are in mint condition and work perfectly.  These are the older tuners with the square ended plates.  The nut measures 1 and 3/4 inches and there are 18 frets with 12 open to the body.  There is very little fret wear.  This model was made for Sears & Roebuck and sold through the mail order catalogue.  It is identical to the early H928 Stella sold under the Harmony tag.  Despite the information contained in one of the below links, the body is all solid woods (birch) with painted bindings.  The fret markers are inlaid dots (not painted).  The old school Silvertone logo is screen painted.  The scratch guard, floating bridge and stamped metal tailpiece are all original and in perfect shape.  Visible through the sound hole is the Harmony model stamp that reads "4308H605".  Also visible through the sound hole is the old style Harmony date stamp that reads "3  MADE IN U.S.A. F50.".  It is strung with new Martin 80/20 extra light bronze strings (.010-.047).  It has that nice old bluesy resonant sound with good sustain.  Additional set-up may be required for optimum performance.  Include is the original fiberboard hardside case that shows wear but is in very nice serviceable condition.

There is no reserve for this old Silvertone in near mint condition. The winning bidder is expected to pay, or make payment arrangements, within 72 hours. No exceptions please.
